BLOOMING | HEALING
“Flowers always make people better. Happier and more helpful; they are sunshine, food, and medicine for the soul.”
These words of American Botanist Luther Burbank truly resonate with us here at LA Atelier. With every step you take into our space, there will always be something overwhelmingly soothing about the myriad of scents that gather, enveloping and comforting the curious individuals who chance upon our store.
This aromatic mixture of scents shapeshifts, earthy at times, and woody at every other. However, it always seems to have no trouble eliciting sighs of relief, calming nerves after a long day, and putting a smile on everyone’s faces.
As you wander further in, you’ll find that the scent is in fact, a concoction of the fragrances emanating from many medicinal flowers and foliage that we have in-store.
Over here at LA Atelier, we make it a point to bring in the most unique seasonal exquisite blooms, some of which hold fragrances that can heal the mind, body, and soul regardless of whether they are fresh and blooming, or dried in-store.
Dried Lavender is familiar to many. It can be found in sachets placed in linen closets, and dishes of potpourri that easily go unnoticed. The fresher alternative is, however, less common.
The aromatherapeutic properties of burst lavender leaves have been proven to create feelings of relaxation, calming the senses and comforting the mind.
We bring in imported fresh lavender upon request – for use in handmade bridesmaid wristlets, flower crowns and in fresh flower bouquets. These unique, beautiful violet plumes are then dried in-store in bunches, retaining its color, and subsequently rearranged into lovely dried flower bouquets. A common misconception about lavender flowers is that it no longer emanates an aroma after being dried.
However, contrary to popular belief, a crush of its leaves between two fingers would instantly release the oils of the lavender plant, regardless of whether it is fresh or dried. With that said, come by our store when you have the chance to try it out for yourself!
Eucalyptus oil is widely known to be a purifying, cleansing, clarifying, and immune-boosting oil that is ideal for use on skin and in aromatherapy, and many over-the-counter cough and asthma medications have eucalyptus oil as one of their active ingredients.
If you’re a fan of aromatherapy, you would have probably heard of the latest lifestyle trend of hanging eucalyptus in your shower as well. That’s because eucalyptus has a long-proven history as a natural healer, taking the edge off after a long day as the steam from your shower triggers a release of essential oils from the plant.
Eucalyptus leaves are one of our favorite plants to use when it comes to floral arrangement, so it’s highly likely that we will have it in-store, available for you if you’re looking for an affordable, minimalistic and therapeutic addition to your home.
You may have strolled past vials of rosemary leaves shelved in the markets, or even used rosemary as a cooking ingredient, but did you know that rosemary oil is an aromatherapeutic essential oil as well? Receiving its name from the Latin term “Dew of the Sea” - as it is native to the sea cliffs of the Mediterranean region, rosemary oil is best known for its stimulating, soothing and pain-relieving properties. It helps to reduce stress levels and nervous tension, boosting mental activity and relieving fatigue and is even used to promote hair growth.
It may be an unconventional choice when it comes to a floral arrangement, but we do stock up on these evergreen herbs every once in a while, so feel free to drop by our stores to check out what we have in store for the day.
If you’re lucky, you may even discover our secret stash of rosemary that we usually keep in our fridges!
For several centuries, people have cultivated hyacinth as an ornamental plant. Hyacinth derived its name from a Greek word, which when translated to English literally denotes "flower of rain". However, not many know that this bulbous plant produces distinctive individual aromas depending on the color of its flowers.
Hyacinth oil is essentially utilized in the perfumery industry, but its emotional and aromatherapeutic uses date back centuries.
These aromatic blooms are one of the most unique flowers that we bring into our stores and are definitely one of the most beautiful. So, come by and check out our selection, or even ring us up in advance to reserve a bunch of these pretty blossoms!
This may come to you as a surprise, but that’s exactly why we have left it at the very end to end off this list. The freesia flower is widely known to have one of the strongest, most pleasant aromas, but did you know that freesia oils are also used in perfume and massage oils? The therapeutic healing properties of freesia oils include memory strengthening and the enhancing of one’s alertness.
There are many variations of freesia flowers that we bring in, and sometimes you may find that we have double-petal or even two-toned freesia flowers in-store as well!
If you’re looking for this beautiful flower, drop by our stores to place an order, and we’ll have them wrapped up and ready to go for you.
These are only a handful of the many aromatic flowers that we stock at LA Atelier. The list goes on, and this is just a preview of the aromatic garden that we have in-store.
